{بَيْضَاء
لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّارِبِينَ }الصافات46
46. White; a delight
to those who drink.
{مَثَلُ
الْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ فِيهَا أَنْهَارٌ مِّن مَّاء غَيْرِ آسِنٍ
وَأَنْهَارٌ مِن لَّبَنٍ لَّمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْمُهُ وَأَنْهَارٌ مِّنْ خَمْرٍ لَّذَّةٍ
لِّلشَّارِبِينَ وَأَنْهَارٌ مِّنْ عَسَلٍ مُّصَفًّى وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ
الثَّمَرَاتِ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ كَمَنْ هُوَ خَالِدٌ فِي النَّارِ وَسُقُوا
مَاء حَمِيماً فَقَطَّعَ أَمْعَاءهُمْ }محمد15
15. The likeness of the Garden promised to the
righteous: in it are rivers of pure water, and rivers of milk forever fresh,
and rivers of wine delightful to
the drinkers, and rivers of strained honey.
And therein they will have of every fruit, and forgiveness from their Lord.
Like one abiding in the Fire forever, and are given to drink boiling water,
that cuts-up their bowels?

الكيل والميزانMeasure and Weight
{وَلاَ تَقْرَبُواْ
مَالَ الْيَتِيمِ إِلاَّ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَأَوْفُواْ
الْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَ
بِالْقِسْطِ لاَ نُكَلِّفُ نَفْساً إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا وَإِذَا قُلْتُمْ فَاعْدِلُواْ
وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَى وَبِعَهْدِ اللّهِ أَوْفُواْ ذَلِكُمْ وَصَّاكُم بِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ
تَذَكَّرُونَ }الأنعام152
152. And do not come near the property of the orphan, except with the
best intentions, until he reaches maturity. And give full weight and full
measure, equitably. We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity. And when you
speak, be fair, even if it concerns a close relative. And fulfill your covenant
with God. All this He has enjoined upon you, so that you may take heed.
{وَإِلَى
مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباً قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُواْ اللّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ
إِلَـهٍ غَيْرُهُ قَدْ جَاءتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَوْفُواْ الْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَ وَلاَ
تَبْخَسُواْ النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءهُمْ وَلاَ تُفْسِدُواْ فِي الأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلاَحِهَا
ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ }الأعراف85
85. And to
Median, their brother Shuaib. He said, “O my people, worship God; you have no
god other than Him. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord. Give full
measure and weight, and do not cheat people out of their rights, and do not
corrupt the land once it has been set right. This is better for you, if you are
believers.”
{ وَإِلَى
مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباً قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُواْ اللّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ
إِلَـهٍ غَيْرُهُ وَلاَ تَنقُصُواْ الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ إِنِّيَ أَرَاكُم بِخَيْرٍ وَإِنِّيَ أَخَافُ
عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيطٍ } هود84
84. And to Median, their brother Shuaib. He said, “O my people,
worship God; you have no god other than Him. And do not short measure or short
weight. I see you in good circumstances, but I fear for you the agony of an
encompassing Day.”
{ وَيَا
قَوْمِ أَوْفُواْ الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ
بِالْقِسْطِ وَلاَ تَبْخَسُواْ النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءهُمْ وَلاَ تَعْثَوْاْ فِي الأَرْضِ
مُفْسِدِينَ } هود85
85. “O my people! Give full measure and full weight, in all fairness,
and do not cheat the people out of their rights, and do not spread corruption
in the land.
كال ووزنMeasure and weigh
{وَأَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ
إِذا كِلْتُمْ وَزِنُواْ بِالقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ
تَأْوِيلاً }الإسراء35
35. And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with accurate
scales. That is fair, and the best determination.
{وَإِذَا
كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ }المطففين3
3. But when they measure or weigh to others, they cheat.
الكتاب والميزانThe book and the balance
{اللَّهُ الَّذِي
أَنزَلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ
وَالْمِيزَانَ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ
لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌ }الشورى17
17. It is God who revealed the Book with the truth, and the Balance.
And what will make you realize that perhaps the Hour is near?
{لَقَدْ
أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَنزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ
النَّاسُ بِالْقِسْطِ وَأَنزَلْنَا الْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ
وَلِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُ وَرُسُلَهُ بِالْغَيْبِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ
عَزِيزٌ }الحديد25
25. We sent Our messengers with the clear proofs, and We sent down
with them the Book and the Balance, that humanity may uphold justice. And We
sent down iron, in which is violent force, and benefits for humanity. That God
may know who supports Him and His messengers invisibly. God is Strong and
Powerful.
الميزانThe Balance
1 - { وَالسَّمَاء
رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ
} الرحمن7
7. And the sky, He raised; and He set up the balance.
2 -
{ أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ
} الرحمن8
8. So do not transgress in the balance.
3 -
{ وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ } الرحمن9
9. But maintain the weights with justice, and do not violate the
balance.
وزنWeigh
{وَالْوَزْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ
فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ
فَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ }الأعراف8
8. The scales on that Day will be just. Those whose weights are
heavy—it is they who are the successful.
{وَأَقِيمُوا
الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ
وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ
}الرحمن9
9. But maintain the weights with justice, and do not violate the
balance.
{أُولَئِكَ
الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَلِقَائِهِ فَحَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فَلَا
نُقِيمُ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَزْناً }الكهف105
105. It is they who rejected the communications of their Lord, and the
encounter with Him. So their works are in vain. And on the Day of Resurrection,
We will consider them of no weight.
{وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ
}الشعراء182
182. And weigh with accurate scales.

مكنا Enable
{ وَقَالَ
الَّذِي اشْتَرَاهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لاِمْرَأَتِهِ أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ عَسَى أَن يَنفَعَنَا
أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَداً وَكَذَلِكَ مَكَّنِّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُ مِن تَأْوِيلِ الأَحَادِيثِ
وَاللّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَى أَمْرِهِ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ } يوسف21
21. The Egyptian who bought him said to his wife, “Take good care of him;
he may be useful to us, or we may adopt him as a son.” We thus established
Joseph in the land, to teach him the interpretation of events. God has control
over His affairs, but most people do not know.
{ وَكَذَلِكَ
مَكَّنِّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي
الأَرْضِ يَتَبَوَّأُ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ نُصِيبُ بِرَحْمَتِنَا مَن نَّشَاء وَلاَ
نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ } يوسف56
56. And thus We established Joseph in the land, to live therein wherever
he wished. We touch with Our mercy whomever We will, and We never waste the
reward of the righteous.
{ إِنَّا
مَكَّنَّا لَهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ
وَآتَيْنَاهُ مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ سَبَباً } الكهف84
84. We established him on earth, and gave him all kinds of means.
نمكن Empower
{أَلَمْ
يَرَوْاْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّاهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ
مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ
وَأَرْسَلْنَا السَّمَاء عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَاراً وَجَعَلْنَا الأَنْهَارَ تَجْرِي مِن
تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنْشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْناً آخَرِينَ
}الأنعام6
6. Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before
them? We had established them on earth more firmly than We established you, and
We sent the clouds pouring down abundant rain on them, and We made rivers flow
beneath them. But We destroyed them for their sins, and established other
civilizations after them.
{ وَنُمَكِّنَ لَهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ
وَنُرِي فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَحْذَرُونَ }
القصص6
6. And to establish them in the land; and to show Pharaoh, Hamaan, and
their troops, the very thing they feared.
{ وَقَالُوا
إِن نَّتَّبِعِ الْهُدَى مَعَكَ نُتَخَطَّفْ مِنْ أَرْضِنَا أَوَلَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّهُمْ حَرَماً آمِناً
يُجْبَى إِلَيْهِ ثَمَرَاتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ رِزْقاً مِن لَّدُنَّا وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ
لَا يَعْلَمُونَ } القصص57
57. And they say, “If we follow the guidance with you, we will be snatched
from our land.” Did We not establish for them a Safe Sanctuary, to which are
brought all kinds of fruits, as provision from Ourselves? But most of them do
not know.
مكناكمُEnable
you
{وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاكُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ قَلِيلاً مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ }الأعراف10
10. We have established you firmly on earth, and made for you in it
livelihood—but rarely do you give thanks.
مكناهمEnable them
{الَّذِينَ إِن مَّكَّنَّاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ
أَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَمَرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَنَهَوْا عَنِ
الْمُنكَرِ وَلِلَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الْأُمُورِ }الحج41
41. Those who, when We empower them in the land, observe the prayer, and
give regular charity, and command what is right, and forbid what is wrong. To
God belongs the outcome of events.
{وَلَقَدْ
مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِيمَا
إِن مَّكَّنَّاكُمْ فِيهِ
وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعاً وَأَبْصَاراً وَأَفْئِدَةً فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ
وَلَا أَبْصَارُهُمْ وَلَا أَفْئِدَتُهُم مِّن شَيْءٍ إِذْ كَانُوا يَجْحَدُونَ بِآيَاتِ
اللَّهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُون }الأحقاف26
26. We had empowered them in the same way as We empowered you; and We gave
them the hearing, and the sight, and the minds. But neither their hearing, nor
their sight, nor their minds availed them in any way. That is because they
disregarded the revelations of God; and so they became surrounded by what they
used to ridicule.
مكنيEmpower me
{ قَالَ
مَا مَكَّنِّي
فِيهِ رَبِّي خَيْرٌ فَأَعِينُونِي بِقُوَّةٍ أَجْعَلْ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ رَدْماً
} الكهف95
95. He said, “What my Lord has empowered me with is better. But assist me
with strength, and I will build between you and them a dam.”
يمكنن Authorize
{وَعَدَ
اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُم
فِي الْأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وليمكنن لَهُمْ
دِينَهُمُ الَّذِي ارْتَضَى لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّن بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْناً
يَعْبُدُونَنِي لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِي شَيْئاً وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَأُوْلَئِكَ
هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ }النور55
55. God has promised those of you who believe and do righteous deeds, that
He will make them successors on earth, as He made those before them successors,
and He will establish for them their religion—which He has approved for
them—and He will substitute security in place of their fear. They worship Me,
never associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that—these
are the sinners.
مكنون Be hidden
{كَأَنَّهُنَّ
بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ }الصافات49
49. As if they were closely guarded pearls.
{وَيَطُوفُ
عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ }الطور24
24. Serving them will be youths like hidden pearls.
{ كَأَمْثَالِ
اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ } الواقعة23
23. The likenesses of treasured pearls.
{ فِي كِتَابٍ مَّكْنُونٍ
} الواقعة78
78. In a well-protected Book.
مكين Substantial
{وَقَالَ
الْمَلِكُ ائْتُونِي بِهِ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِي فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهُ قَالَ إِنَّكَ
الْيَوْمَ لَدَيْنَا مِكِينٌ أَمِينٌ }يوسف54
54. The king said, “Bring him to me, and I will reserve him for myself.”
And when he spoke to him, he said, “This day you are with us established and
secure.”
{ثُمَّ
جَعَلْنَاهُ نُطْفَةً فِي قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ }المؤمنون13
13. Then We made him a seed, in a secure repository.
{فَجَعَلْنَاهُ
فِي قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ }المرسلات21
21. Then lodged it in a secure place?
{ذِي
قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ }التكوير20
20. Endowed with power, eminent with the Lord of the Throne.
مكان Place
{وَإِنْ
أَرَدتُّمُ اسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍ وَآتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ قِنطَاراً
فَلاَ تَأْخُذُواْ مِنْهُ شَيْئاً أَتَأْخُذُونَهُ بُهْتَاناً وَإِثْماً مُّبِيناً
}النساء20
20. If you wish to replace one wife with another, and you have given one
of them a fortune, take nothing back from it. Would you take it back
fraudulently and sinfully?
{ ثُمَّ
بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّى عَفَواْ وَّقَالُواْ قَدْ مَسَّ
آبَاءنَا الضَّرَّاء وَالسَّرَّاء فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ
} الأعراف95
95. Then We substituted prosperity in place of hardship. Until they
increased in number, and said, “Adversity and prosperity has touched our
ancestors.” Then We seized them suddenly, while they were unaware.
{ وَإِذَا
بَدَّلْنَا آيَةً مَّكَانَ آيَةٍ وَاللّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُنَزِّلُ قَالُواْ إِنَّمَا
أَنتَ مُفْتَرٍ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ } النحل101
101. When We substitute a verse in place of another verse—and God knows
best what He reveals—they say, “You are an impostor.” But most of them do not
know.
{ وَإِذْ
بَوَّأْنَا لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ مَكَانَ الْبَيْتِ أَن لَّا تُشْرِكْ بِي شَيْئاً وَطَهِّرْ
بَيْتِيَ لِلطَّائِفِينَ وَالْقَائِمِينَ وَالرُّكَّعِ السُّجُودِ } الحج26
26. We showed Abraham the location of the House: “Do not associate
anything with Me; and purify My House for those who circle around, and those
who stand to pray, and those who kneel and prostrate.”
مكانه Position
{ وَلَمَّا
جَاء مُوسَى لِمِيقَاتِنَا وَكَلَّمَهُ رَبُّهُ قَالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِي أَنظُرْ إِلَيْكَ
قَالَ لَن تَرَانِي وَلَـكِنِ انظُرْ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ اسْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهُ فَسَوْفَ تَرَانِي فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى رَبُّهُ لِلْجَبَلِ
جَعَلَهُ دَكّاً وَخَرَّ موسَى صَعِقاً فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ تُبْتُ
إِلَيْكَ وَأَنَاْ أَوَّلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ } الأعراف143
143. And when Moses came to Our appointment, and his Lord spoke to him, he
said, “My Lord, allow me to look and see You.” He said, “You will not see Me,
but look at the mountain; if it stays in its place, you will see Me.” But when
his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, He turned it into dust, and Moses
fell down unconscious. Then, when he recovered, he said, “Glory be to you, I
repent to you, and I am the first of the believers.”
{ قَالُواْ
يَا أَيُّهَا الْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُ أَباً شَيْخاً كَبِيراً فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُ إِنَّا نَرَاكَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ } يوسف78
78. They said, “O noble prince, he has a father, a very old man, so take
one of us in his place. We see that you are a good person.”
مكانكم Your place
{ وَيَوْمَ
نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعاً ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ مَكَانَكُمْ
أَنتُمْ وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْ فَزَيَّلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَقَالَ شُرَكَآؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمْ
إِيَّانَا تَعْبُدُونَ } يونس28
28. On the Day when We will gather them altogether, then say to those who
ascribed partners, “To your place, you and your partners.” Then We will
separate between them, and their partners will say, “It was not us you were
worshiping.”
مكانتكم your standing
{قُلْ
يَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُواْ عَلَى مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
مَن تَكُونُ لَهُ عَاقِبَةُ الدِّارِ إِنَّهُ لاَ يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ }الأنعام135
135. Say, “O my people! Work according to your ability, and so will I.” You will come to know to whom will belong the sequel of the abode.” The wrongdoers will not prevail. g
{ وَيَا
قَوْمِ اعْمَلُواْ عَلَى مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن
يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَمَنْ هُوَ كَاذِبٌ وَارْتَقِبُواْ إِنِّي مَعَكُمْ رَقِيبٌ
} هود93
93. “O my people, do as you may, and so will I. You will know to whom will
come a punishment that will shame him, and who is a liar. So look out; I am on
the lookout with you.”
{ وَقُل
لِّلَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ اعْمَلُواْ عَلَى مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنَّا عَامِلُونَ
} هود121
121. And say to those who do not believe, “Act
according to your ability; and so will we.”
شر مكانا
Evil
place
{قُلْ
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرٍّ مِّن ذَلِكَ مَثُوبَةً عِندَ اللّهِ مَن لَّعَنَهُ اللّهُ
وَغَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهُمُ الْقِرَدَةَ وَالْخَنَازِيرَ وَعَبَدَ الطَّاغُوتَ
أُوْلَـئِكَ شَرٌّ مَّكَاناً وَأَضَلُّ عَن سَوَاء السَّبِيلِ }المائدة60
60. Say, “Shall I inform you of worse than that for
retribution from God? He whom God has cursed, and with whom He became angry;
and He turned some of them into apes, and swine, and idol worshipers. These are
in a worse position, and further away from the right way.”
{ قَالُواْ
إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِي نَفْسِهِ
وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْ قَالَ أَنتُمْ شَرٌّ مَّكَاناً وَاللّهُ أَعْلَمْ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ } يوسف77
77. They said, “If he has stolen, a brother of his has
stolen before.” But Joseph kept it to himself, and did not reveal it to them.
He said, “You are in a worse situation, and God is Aware of what you allege.”
من كل مكان From everywhere
{يَتَجَرَّعُهُ
وَلاَ يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُ وَيَأْتِيهِ الْمَوْتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٍ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِ
عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٌ }إبراهيم17
17. He will guzzle it, but he will not swallow it.
Death will come at him from every direction, but he will not die. And beyond
this is relentless suffering.
{ وَضَرَبَ
اللّهُ مَثَلاً قَرْيَةً كَانَتْ آمِنَةً مُّطْمَئِنَّةً يَأْتِيهَا رِزْقُهَا رَغَداً
مِّن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ فَكَفَرَتْ
بِأَنْعُمِ اللّهِ فَأَذَاقَهَا اللّهُ لِبَاسَ الْجُوعِ وَالْخَوْفِ بِمَا كَانُواْ
يَصْنَعُونَ } النحل112
112. And God cites the example of a town that was
secure and peaceful, with its livelihood coming to it abundantly from every
direction. But then it turned unappreciative of God’s blessings, so God made it
taste the robe of hunger and fear, because of what they used to craft.
{ هُوَ
الَّذِي يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ
وَجَرَيْنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٍ طَيِّبَةٍ وَفَرِحُواْ بِهَا جَاءتْهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٌ وَجَاءهُمُ
الْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ
وَظَنُّواْ أَنَّهُمْ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ دَعَوُاْ اللّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ لَئِنْ
أَنجَيْتَنَا مِنْ هَـذِهِ لَنَكُونَنِّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ } يونس22
22. It is He who transports you across land and sea.
Until, when you are on ships, sailing in a favorable wind, and rejoicing in it,
a raging wind arrives. The waves surge over them from every side, and they
realize that they are besieged. Thereupon they pray to God, professing sincere
devotion to Him: “If You save us from this, we will be among the appreciative.”

{ حُنَفَاء
لِلَّهِ غَيْرَ مُشْرِكِينَ بِهِ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ
السَّمَاء فَتَخْطَفُهُ الطَّيْرُ أَوْ تَهْوِي بِهِ الرِّيحُ فِي مَكَانٍ سَحِيقٍ
} الحج31
31. Being true to God, without associating anything
with Him. Whoever associates anything with God—it is as though he has fallen
from the sky, and is snatched by the birds, or is swept away by the wind to a
distant abyss.

{وَاسْتَمِعْ
يَوْمَ يُنَادِ الْمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانٍ
قَرِيبٍ }ق41
41. And listen for the Day when the caller calls from
a nearby place.
{ وَلَوْ
تَرَى إِذْ فَزِعُوا فَلَا فَوْتَ وَأُخِذُوا مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ } سبأ51
51. If you could only see when they are terrified, and
there is no escape, and they are seized from a nearby place.
مكان بعيد Remote location
{ إِذَا
رَأَتْهُم مِّن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ
سَمِعُوا لَهَا تَغَيُّظاً وَزَفِيراً } الفرقان12
12. When it sees them from a distant place, they will
hear it raging and roaring.
{ وَقَالُوا
آمَنَّا بِهِ وَأَنَّى لَهُمُ التَّنَاوُشُ مِن مَكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ } سبأ52
52. And they say, “We have believed in it.” But how
can they attain it from a distant place?
{ وَقَدْ
كَفَرُوا بِهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَيَقْذِفُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ } سبأ53
53. They have rejected it in the past, and made
allegations from a far-off place.
{وَلَوْ
جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآناً أَعْجَمِيّاً لَّقَالُوا لَوْلَا فُصِّلَتْ آيَاتُهُ أَأَعْجَمِيٌّ
وَعَرَبِيٌّ قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاء وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٌ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمًى أُوْلَئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ }فصلت44
44. Had We made it a Quran in a foreign language, they
would have said, “If only its verses were made clear.” Non-Arabic and an Arab?
Say, “For those who believe, it is guidance and healing. But as for those who
do not believe: there is heaviness in their ears, and it is blindness for them.
These are being called from a distant place.”

{ وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ
مَرْيَمَ إِذِ انتَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَاناً شَرْقِيّاً } مريم16
16. And mention in the Scripture Mary, when she
withdrew from her people to an eastern location.
{ فَحَمَلَتْهُ
فَانتَبَذَتْ بِهِ مَكَاناً قَصِيّاً } مريم22
22. So she carried him, and secluded herself with him
in a remote place.
{ وَرَفَعْنَاهُ
مَكَاناً عَلِيّاً } مريم57
57. And We raised him to a high position.
{قُلْ
مَن كَانَ فِي الضَّلَالَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ لَهُ الرَّحْمَنُ مَدّاً حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَوْا
مَا يُوعَدُونَ إِمَّا الْعَذَابَ وَإِمَّا السَّاعَةَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ
مَّكَاناً وَأَضْعَفُ جُنداً }مريم75
75. Say, “Whoever is in error, the Most Merciful will
lead him on.” Until, when they see what they were promised—either the
punishment, or the Hour. Then they will know who was in worse position and
weaker in forces.
{فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ
بِسِحْرٍ مِّثْلِهِ فَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِداً لَّا نُخْلِفُهُ نَحْنُ
وَلَا أَنتَ مَكَاناً سُوًى }طه58
58. We will produce for you magic like it; so make an
appointment between us and you, which we will not miss—neither us, nor you—in a
central place.”
{ وَإِذَا
أُلْقُوا مِنْهَا مَكَاناً ضَيِّقاً مُقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْا هُنَالِكَ ثُبُوراً } الفرقان13
13. And when they are thrown into it, into a tight
place, shackled, they will plead there for death.
{ الَّذِينَ
يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ أُوْلَئِكَ شَرٌّ مَّكَاناً وَأَضَلُّ
سَبِيلاً } الفرقان34
34. Those who are herded into Hell on their
faces—those are in a worse position, and further astray from the way.
{وَأَصْبَحَ
الَّذِينَ تَمَنَّوْا مَكَانَهُ بِالْأَمْسِ يَقُولُونَ وَيْكَأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ
الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَقْدِرُ لَوْلَا أَن مَّنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا
لَخَسَفَ بِنَا وَيْكَأَنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الْكَافِرُونَ }القصص82
82. Those who had wished they were in his position the
day before were saying, “Indeed, it is God who spreads the bounty to whomever
He wills of His servants, and restricts it. Had God not been gracious to us, He
would have caved in on us. No wonder the ungrateful never prosper.”
{وَلَوْ
نَشَاء لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَى مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيّاً وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ
}يس67
67. And if We will, We can cripple them in their
place; so they can neither move forward, nor go back.
{قُلْ
يَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا عَلَى مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ }الزمر39
39. Say: “O my people, work according to your ability;
and so will I. Then you will know.
أمكن
{وَإِن
يُرِيدُواْ خِيَانَتَكَ فَقَدْ خَانُواْ اللّهَ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْ وَاللّهُ
عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ }الأنفال71
71. But if they intend to betray you, they have
already betrayed God, and He has overpowered them. God is Knowing and Wise.
